Doolan hoping to put things right

Kris Doolan says the squad are looking forward to the quick chance to put Wednesday night behind them when they travel to Aberdeen.

He admits the quick turnaround gives them the perfect opportunity to get it out their system straight away.

Speaking to ptfc.co.uk he said: “The good thing about a midweek game is there is a chance so soon to put things right and rectify things. The boys are hurting, we don’t like to lose matches and we don’t want to feel like that on a Saturday.

“We were disappointed to come away from the St Johnstone game having lost it and we now have to pick ourselves up and go out and give it our all to beat Aberdeen on a Saturday”

Dools knows despite the good play the lack of goals has to change after drawing a blank for the third consecutive league game

He admits “Our final ball has to be better, we have a lot of the ball and the greater chances but we could be creating better chances if that final ball is just that little bit better so from that point of view we have to be better

“We’ve been struggling in the league for goals in the last couple of games, the final ball is key in that. I think we maybe need to mix it up more, we go wide a lot where maybe we need to come through the middle more and I think sometimes it becomes predictable and teams can defend that.”

Aberdeen sit third in the table and Doolan knows it will be a tough task but one the players believe they can win

“We know Aberdeen will be a tough game, we know we will have to be on our best but it doesn’t matter who we are playing, we have to go out and do what we need to do, to perform and to give it our all.

“We have put some good performances in up there over the last few seasons and never quite got the results we deserved so hopefully we can change that this time. We believe we can.”
