Ahead of tomorrow’s cinch Championship fixture at home to Dunfermline Athletic, we are delighted to confirm the attendance of the majority of our 1971 Scottish League Cup winning squad.
As we celebrate the very special anniversary of our famous 4-1 cup final win over Celtic, exactly 50 years ago tomorrow, we can outline when and where Thistle supporters can pay tribute to our Hampden heroes.
From 2.15pm, after they enjoy lunch in hospitality, members of the 1971 squad will form small groups to meet and greet fans in the Alan Rough Lounge, the 71 Club and the Aitken Suite.
Then, around 2.40pm as we build up to kick-off, four very special 1971 players (guess who!) will leave the Aitken Suite and walk around the pitch in front of the John Lambie Stand and then the Jackie Husband Stand to salute supporters.
Finally, at half-time, every member of the 1971 squad in attendance will be welcomed to the pitch to enable all supporters to give them a deserved cheer and enjoy a short interview with one or two.
Thistle fans will also be able to purchase print copies of Lorne Gardner’s book, “1971 What A Sensation”, which – for this weekend only – will be available for £10. This will be on sale in the Jackie Husband Stand before the game and in hospitality after – cash only.
Finally, the Partick Thistle Football Club shop, situated in the Colin Weir Stand, will be open from 1pm with all this season’s favourite strips, scarves, hats and other goods on sale.
