All at Partick Thistle were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Shaun Niven, Chairman at Stranraer Football Club.
A passionate football man, Shaun was one of the first welcoming faces to greet Thistle teams on arrival at Stair Park when the sides locked horns in league and cup competitions throughout the years.
Our current Chief Executive, Gerry Britton, who managed Stranraer between 2006 and 2008 paid tribute to Shaun.
“Shaun was a devoted football supporter and gave absolutely everything to Stranraer. He’s someone I knew really well from my time as manager at Stranraer and I worked closely with him. At that point he was doing the media duties at Stranraer but during the last couple of decades he has done almost every job you can imagine, such was his love for his football club.
“I was incredibly shocked when I learned of the sad news earlier today. I will always remember the warm welcomes and the kindness he showed me whenever our paths crossed in Scottish football. My thoughts and those of everyone at the Club, are with Shaun’s family, friends and everyone at Stranraer Football Club.”
