Joe Cardle has today put pen to paper on a contract extension that will see him remain a Thistle player until May 2020.
Joe joined Thistle at the start of January, following a spell at AFC Flyde, and scored three goals in 14 games for the Jags. Despite picking up a hamstring injury at the end of his first month in Maryhill, Joe went on to make a sizeable contribution to the campaign including three vital assists.
On signing his new deal Joe said:
“I’m over the moon to get it sorted and over the line. It’s a time to look forward to next season as we are definitely building a good core of players. I know the manager is still looking for a bit of extra quality to fill in around about that core but we can certainly start looking forward to an exciting season ahead. The manager knows what he needs and we’re starting to get a good idea of how the side will look next season which is really good considering where we are in the year.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time at the Club so far, honestly every minute has been great. I think after the Ayr and Queen of the South games you saw a real togetherness between the team and the fans and I think that could be massive for the season ahead. The supporters have been fantastic with me since I came on board and I want to repay a bit of that on the pitch in the coming months.
“The manager has been really good with us all and the boys in the dressing room have made it a really good welcoming place to be as well. All that is part of what made me want to stay and hopefully it will all come together to push the Club back towards where we all want it to be.”
