The Partick Thistle Board has been in constant dialogue following the disruption caused to all our lives by Covid-19, with the focus even more firmly sharpened following this week’s announcements by the Scottish FA, SPFL and UEFA.
While we have built a solid financial base with no debt to service, the next few weeks and months bring financial uncertainty for all businesses. PTFC is no different. The Board will continue to work hard to ensure that when football restarts in Scotland, we are ready and able to do so, despite potentially a significant loss of income.
However, we have been overwhelmed – though not surprised – by the generosity and kindness of supporters getting in touch asking in which way they might be able to financially assist the club. We thank all of you sincerely for that backing. We fully appreciate that many people will not be in a position to make a financial contribution right now – if that is you, please don’t worry, support comes in many forms so please keep backing us, engaging with us, sharing our stories and looking out for your fellow fans.
Today, based on supporters’ suggestions, we can offer the following, initial options to any fans wishing to make such a gesture:
1. Make a one-off donation via the new Thistle supporters GoFundMe fundraising page with an initial target of £20,000 set to help running costs: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-the-jags Set up by fans Caroline Mackie, Dave Mackie and Malky Mcwhirter, we are very grateful to them.
2. Pledge via Thistle For Ever: https://thistleforever.org/ Our thanks to Thistle Forever for stepping forward.
3. Purchase a commemorative tile for just £50. Simply email to order – please include your inscription ready when you get in contact – remember it can be two lines long with a maximum of 16 characters in each line. Thanks to Euan Couperwhite for the suggestion. Alternatively, purchase online here: https://ptfc.co.uk/product/commemorative-tile/
4. Join the Centenary Fund which will hold the biggest draw in its history in April – a Super Centenary Fund double draw as well as one of our twice-yearly car giveaways, thanks to our friends at Macklin Motors. Sign up here: https://ptfc.co.uk/fans/centenary-fund/join-the-centenary-fund/
We make no apologies for repeating everyone at the Club’s huge vote of thanks to all supporters – Thistle fans never step back from a challenge and that is being shown again right now.
We hope this update helps offer suitable options to those fans who do wish to make a financial contribution to the club, no matter how big or small.
Most of all, we continue to encourage you all to follow government and NHS advice and look after yourselves and one another. There is nothing more important than the wellbeing of all connected with Partick Thistle.
There will be a wider Partick Thistle FC update shared with supporters tomorrow around what we plan to do to keep the Thistle family together in the months ahead.
