Partick Thistle men’s team support Her Game Too

Ahead of our Her Game Too Partick Thistle celebrations across two home games this weekend, we invited three key figures from the men’s team to champion the women integral to their careers in football.

Men’s team manager Kris Doolan, vice-captain Aaron Muirhead and captain – as well as women’s team manager – Brian Graham shared how they feel about their own inspirational females in football.

Kris Doolan: “My wife Claire follows us home and away (along with my family) and is always there to provide a strong support network at home regardless of how the game has gone. In order for me to be at my best as a player – and now as manager – Claire always ensures that I can focus fully on the task at hand as she does so much behind the scenes at home. We are a team and work together to make sure we balance family life and football. It’s most definitely her game too.”

Aaron Muirhead: “My Mum Joan has always supported me since I was young whether it’s been cleaning kit when I was a kid, to now travelling the length of the country to watch games or picking me up if we lose. My wife Sarah and girls Olivia and Emily are my number one fans and always have my back through the highs and lows. They are the first ones I want to celebrate with and also the ones to cheer me up after a defeat. It’s 100% their game too.”

Brian Graham: “My wife Nicola has been a massive influence in my career, no matter where and what team I was signing for she didn’t question it, she just showed me her support and belief in me that I would make it work. Over the years I have had her packing up and moving homes all while being a loving mother to our two kids, including my daughter Sofia who is every bit as much my inspiration and supporter of my career. Without Nicola my career wouldn’t have been possible. We are in it together, it’s her game too.”

All the management team, players and staff connected with the Partick Thistle men’s team fully supports Her Game Too and Her Game Too Partick Thistle in tackling sexism and championing women in sport.

Thanks to Kris, Brian and Aaron for supporting by sharing their perspectives.
