Partick Thistle can today announce that club captain Ross Docherty has signed a contract extension with the club, keeping him at Firhill until summer 2023.
The midfielder became a Jag last summer, signing from Ayr United, and was a key part of Ian McCall’s side in his debut season in Maryhill.
Ross featured 23 times and missed only three league fixtures as he led the team to the League One title. He also managed to get off the mark as a Thistle goalscorer when he slotted home the second goal in a 2-0 win over Forfar at Station Park in December.
On the extension, Thistle manager Ian McCall said:
“I’m thrilled to get Doc tied down to another year at the club. I think you saw right throughout the campaign how important a player he was to the way we played and the influence he had in the middle of the park.
“He brings great leadership qualities too and you need that at any level; he’s got the right attitude and knows what it takes to win. He was one of the boys playing through injuries at the end of the season too so you can see his commitment to the team.”
