Stuart Bannigan extends Firhill stay until 2023

Partick Thistle are delighted to announce that Stuart Bannigan has signed a new contract with the club which will keep him at Firhill until 2023.

The midfielder played 25 times for the Jags as they won the League One title last season, netting one goal; a sumptuous free-kick in a 5-0 win over Montrose at Firhill.

Bannigan is the club’s longest standing player having made his first team debut back in September 2011, racking up over 250 appearances as a Thistle player in the time since.

On the deal, Thistle manager Ian McCall said:

“Stuart Bannigan is another player who is vital to the way we play. His partnership with Ross Docherty in the middle of the park was immense last season and you could see a great understanding had grown between them very quickly.

“Stuart is someone who understands exactly what it means to play for this football club and he’ll never give any less than his all. He has every quality that you look for in a central midfielder so it’s great to have him tied down to another year beyond his previous contract.”

A video interview with Stuart discussing his new deal with be available to JagZone subscribers shortly.
