A petition has been launched to save Maryhill’s second fire engine, proposed for decommissioning in September, and this live petition is being supported by people across Partick Thistle Football Club.
The two appliances based at Maryhill Fire Station not only serve the local community and its buildings, including the Wyre Stadium At Firhill, but also a wider area of Glasgow with a population of approximately 100,000.
The petition explains the removal of one of the two appliances will reduce the service available locally and would also have an impact on a significant number of jobs based at the station. This includes potential impact on many who are friends to the club, not to mention a member of the 2022/23 Partick Thistle women’s team.
Everyone at Partick Thistle FC who has been made aware of this campaign to date has been 100% supportive, with men’s team manager Kris Doolan and women’s team manager Brian Graham among those adding their signatures to the petition.
