Partick Thistle are delighted to announce the signing of Wasiri Williams on a two year deal, subject to international clearance.
The 23 year old defender will put pen to paper on his new two year contract when his current contract expires on 1st July. Joining from Swansea City, Wasiri spent the last 12 months with the Welsh club becoming a regular in the Swans under 21 team, skippering the side on multiple occasions and scoring three goals.
Wasiri has a wealth of first team experience under his belt having spent four years in the English non-league prior to his move to Swansea. In February, he made the loan switch to Dundalk in the League of Ireland, featuring 12 times during his short time in the Republic of Ireland.
Jags boss Kris Doolan said:
“I’m delighted to add Wasiri to the squad and to have him in at Firhill in time for pre-season training starting is even better. We know that there will be key areas that we’ll have to recruit in this summer and this is the start of the summer business that we’re looking to conduct.
“Wasiri is a strong, physical defender who is first and foremost a centre-back which is where we see him playing his football in Maryhill. He’s quick and is good on the ball so I’m sure he’ll slot in seamlessly to the way we want to play this season.”
Wasiri will wear the number 4 shirt during his time at Firhill.
We’ll catch up with our latest signing on JagZone later this week.
