Partick Thistle FC has announced that Glasgow businessman Duncan Smillie, owner of the Glasgow Rocks basketball team, is to join the Club’s interim Board. In line with other interim Directors, his appointment is until 30th March 2020. He was previously a director for a brief period in June/July 2019 before being removed as part of Board changes.
With a successful career in business predominantly in the south, Duncan has experience in sales, marketing, operations and technology. His involvement with the Rocks means that he brings an understanding of the value of fan engagement and matchday experience.
Duncan is currently owner of the Rocks, Scotland’s only men’s professional basketball team, competing in the British Basketball League and playing out of the Emirates Arena. He also holds two other non-exec directorships in the technology sector.
The Club has also announced, with regret, that interim Director Ian Dodd has stepped down due to pressures on his time. The interim Board has thanked Ian for his service to Thistle over the lifetime of four Boards and wishes him well for the future.
